Why Publish with Polar Research?

Polar Research is the international, peer-reviewed journal of the Norwegian Polar Institute. It was the first all open-access polar journal. Articles in Polar Research have been picked up in Norway by NRK and VG and, internationally, by CNN News, The Guardian, BBC and Al Jazeera. In 2020, the journal’s website had over 20 000 users and abstracts were viewed over 100 000 times; full articles were viewed almost 7000 times. The top five countries visiting the website in 2020 were (in descending order) the US, Canada, China, Norway and the UK. Reflecting the journal’s broad topical scope and bipolar geographical coverage, the three most frequently viewed/downloaded articles in Polar Research in 2020 concerned a very long air-temperature series in Svalbard, the migration of a female Arctic fox from Svalbard to Canada and a new fossil lobster species found in the Antarctic.
